Volleyball Recap: Gadsden Comes Up Short

Gadsden was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Mayfield Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in October.

The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-10, 25-13.

Mayfield's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alexa Chavez, who had 13 digs and two aces. Chavez has been hot recently, having posted 13 or more digs the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Isobella Munker, who had 22 assists and three digs.

Gadsden's loss dropped their record down to 2-19. As for Mayfield, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-7.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Gadsden is set to take on their familiar foe Alamogordo at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Mayfield will challenge rival Organ Mountain at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
