Baseball Recap: Granada Comes Up Short

Granada was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the McClave Cardinals, falling 16-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bobcats of the 14-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Granada saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddox Coleman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Jesus Perez also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Granada's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for McClave, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Granada will face off against Springfield at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for McClave, a feisty cat fight will be fought as McClave Cardinals take on Cheyenne Wells Tigers at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Their pitchers better be ready for this one: Cheyenne Wells has averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season.
