Basketball Game Preview: Southwest Guilford Cowboys vs. Northern Guilford Nighthawks

Southwest Guilford and Northern Guilford are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2021, but not for long. The Southwest Guilford Cowboys will welcome the Northern Guilford Nighthawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southwest Guilford knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 17 games -- so hopefully Northern Guilford likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Southwest Guilford got the win against Southeast Guilford by a conclusive 73-50. Given the Cowboys' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while the Falcons are ranked 390th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Northern Guilford waltzed into their matchup on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They walked away with a 62-52 win over the Vikings.

Northern Guilford is also on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.1 points per game. As for Southwest Guilford, their victory bumped their record up to 12-6.

Southwest Guilford beat Northern Guilford 67-59 when the teams last played back in January. Does Southwest Guilford have another victory up their sleeve, or will Northern Guilford turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
