Softball Recap: Escondido Cougars vs. Mt. Carmel Sundevils

Escondido extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping their season record down to 6-15 in the process. They lost 12-0 to the Mt. Carmel Sundevils. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Sundevils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-1 back in April.

As for Mt. Carmel, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games.

For Mt. Carmel's part, Kaili Martha was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Martha has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Clara Carter, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Escondido has already played their next matchup, an 11-7 win against Classical Academy on the 5th. As for Mt. Carmel, they will take on Valley Center at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
