Basketball Recap: Rylee Thompson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Grove City Christian over Emmanuel Christian Academy

Grove City Christian fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Emmanuel Christian Academy on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 52-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Emmanuel Christian Academy Lions.

Grove City Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Rylee Thompson, who posted 14 points and eight boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Cadence Randall was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Mya Lawrence went supernova for Emmanuel Christian Academy, almost dropping a double-double with 22 points and nine rebounds. Those 22 points gave Lawrence a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Abbey Hudson, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine boards.

Grove City Christian dropped their record down to 7-14 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Emmanuel Christian Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-13.

Grove City Christian has already played their next match, a 46-10 victory against Miller on the 10th. As for Emmanuel Christian Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-17 defeat against Mississinawa Valley on the 15th.
