Basketball Recap: Hemphill Takes a Loss

Hemphill extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-3. They took a blow against the Broaddus Bulldogs, falling 64-33. If the Hornets were looking for revenge after losing 59-33 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in December of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Broaddus' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kingston Sanders led the charge by dropping a double-double with 24 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave Sanders a new career-high in shooting accuracy (82%). Ransom Sowell was another key player, going 8-for-15 to rack up 21 points and six assists.

Hemphill has already played their next matchup (against West Sabine), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Broaddus, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 50-33 victory against Shelbyville on the 5th.
