Football Recap: Mitchell Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Mitchell unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by the Charlotte Latin Hawks and fell 48-13. The Mountaineers lost against the Hawks in their previous head to head back in August of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 28-14 score last time.

Although Mitchell took the loss, they still got scores from Kaj Pitman and Hayden Webb.

De'Jon Douglas was a one-man wrecking crew For Charlotte Latin. as he rushed for 151 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also caught one TD. Dallas Chapman also helped out as he racked up 115 rushing yards.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mitchell will host McDowell at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Charlotte Latin, they will be playing at home against Ravenscroft at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
