The Pewitt Brahmas will head out to face off against the Boles Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pewitt is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
Last Friday, Pewitt earned a 22-14 win over Cooper. The 22-point effort marked the Brahmas' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
The critical scores for Pewitt came from Zahkevion Betts, Datokta Zavala, and Kd Watson.
Pewitt was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 270 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 251 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Pewitt's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Betts, Brody Hodges, and Boone Hodges, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, Boles had to suffer through a 56-8 loss at the hands of Cooper. The Hornets haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed six in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Elijah Granado, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Pewitt's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Boles, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Pewitt has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 319.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Boles struggles in that department as they've been averaging 170.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Pewitt against Boles when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 46-2 win. In that game, the Brahmas amassed a halftime lead of 34-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
