Edison and Winn squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Edison had to settle for second. They fell 5-2 to the Mavericks. The Golden Bears' defeat signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.

Luis Garcia Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

Edison's loss dropped their record down to 18-5. As for Winn, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.

While Edison had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
