Softball Game Preview: Greater Johnstown Trojans vs. Westmont Hilltop Hilltoppers

The Greater Johnstown Trojans will face off against the Westmont Hilltop Hilltoppers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Greater Johnstown has now lost 15 straight dating back to last season, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 16th.

Greater Johnstown fell victim to Bishop McCort and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Crushers, falling 10-0. That's two games in a row now that the Trojans have lost by exactly ten runs.

Meanwhile, while Westmont Hilltop put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Bishop Carroll. Westmont Hilltop blew past Bishop Carroll 16-0. The Hilltoppers haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Addy Dunbar made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Dunbar was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Liz Veranese was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Lamya Stevens was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Westmont Hilltop always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Westmont Hilltop's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Greater Johnstown, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
