The Lake Belton Broncos will take on the Leander Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Lake Belton barely beat Glenn the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Broncos blew past the Grizzlies 49-23 on Friday. That 26 point margin sets a new team best for the Broncos this season.
Lake Belton's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Zion Harness, who gained 164 total yards and two touchdowns, and Zyien Dupree, who rushed for 112 yards and one score on only seven carries. Dupree really tore up the turf during one magnificent 86-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Rosenbaum, who threw for 70 yards and three touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lake Belton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 226 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Lake Belton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Braxton Cope led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. He has been hot recently, having also posted seven or more total tackles the last three times he's played. Another thorn in Glenn's side was Jonathan Russell, who picked up a sack and made eight total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Leander). They blew past Chaparral 49-6 on Friday. With the Lions ahead 35-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Lake Belton better keep an eye on Ke'Marion Gordon. He was instrumental in Leander's win, rushing for 236 yards and four TDs while picking up 13.1 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Gordon is now averaging an impressive 126.8 rushing yards per game. Another player making a difference was Mason Montgomery, who rushed for 64 yards and one score on only six carries.
Lake Belton's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.6 points over those games. As for Leander, the win also got them back to even at 3-3.
We should be in store for an exciting game as Lake Belton and Leander have no problem gaining yardage. The Broncos have been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 373.3 total yards per game. However, it's not like Leander struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 362 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Lake Belton strolled past Leander in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a score of 29-15. Will the Broncos repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
