Basketball Recap: Capitol Takes a Loss

Capitol blew East Iberville out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday East Iberville got their revenge. The Lions fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 58-56. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Lions have suffered since December 6, 2024.

East Iberville was led to victory by Jordan Scharnett Jr. and Chase Joseph. Scharnett Jr. almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds, while Joseph shot 46% from the field en route to 19 points. That's the most points Joseph has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Collin Banks, who earned six points and 11 boards.

Capitol has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. As for East Iberville, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1.

Capitol wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 54-47 loss against John Curtis Christian on the 13th. As for East Iberville, they have also already played their next matchup, a 53-50 defeat against St. Louis Catholic on the 13th.
