Baseball Recap: Nitro Comes Up Short

Spring Valley hit Nitro with a six-run fourth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wildcats came up short against the Timberwolves, falling 11-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 6-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2016.

Nitro has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season. As for Spring Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nitro will host Point Pleasant at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Big Blacks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Spring Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against John Marshall at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
