Basketball Recap: Salida Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for Salida, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They took down the Manitou Springs Mustangs 62-44 on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Spartans also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Manitou Springs lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Thomas Spraggins, who posted eight points. Another player making a difference was Preston Rhodes, who had nine points.

Salida's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points over those games. As for Manitou Springs, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-5.

Coming up, Salida will head out to square off against St. Mary's at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. St. Mary's knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Salida likes a good challenge. As for Manitou Springs, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Lamar at 1:00 p.m. Lamar is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.7 points per game this season.
