Softball Recap: Milan Beats Ripley for Their Third Straight Victory

Five must be Milan's lucky number: they beat Ripley with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Bulldogs had just enough and edged out the Tigers 5-4. The victory was familiar territory for the Bulldogs, who have now won three matches in a row.

Camryn Green spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Milan let Addison Rushing and Mia Pearson run wild. Rushing went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple, while Pearson went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Rushing has posted since back in March. Maycee Masters was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Milan pushed their record up to 23-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Ripley, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-10-1.

As of now, neither Milan nor the Tigers have any future games scheduled.
