Softball Recap: Olean Huskies vs. Randolph Cardinals

Olean unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Randolph Cardinals on Monday. The Huskies were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cardinals from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Emma Edwards put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over eight innings while giving up six earned runs off nine hits. Edwards was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Edwards wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Riley Sudbrook, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Those two stolen bases gave Sudbrook a new career-high.

Looking ahead, Olean will be playing in front of their home fans against Gowanda at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Randolph, they will head out to face off against Falconer at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
