Softball Recap: Lake Weir Comes Up Short

Lake Weir lost against Umatilla back in April of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Hurricanes lost 12-4 to the Bulldogs. The Hurricanes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kyra Rigozzi made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run. Kelsey Buncie also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Lake Weir's defeat dropped their record down to 3-19. As for Umatilla, they moved to 6-12 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Lake Weir will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Dunnellon at 6:30 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Umatilla, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Eustis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
