Softball Recap: Melbourne's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

With a playoff win on the line, Melbourne rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Osceola Kowboys 6-5. The victory was nothing new for the Bulldogs as they're now sitting on five straight.

Brooklynn Steidl spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Layna Ayala, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Camryn Hoppesch also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Melbourne's win bumped their record up to 14-12. As for Osceola, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-11 record this season.

Melbourne will challenge Viera at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. Osceola does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
