            Baseball Recap: Damien Spartans vs. Rancho Cucamonga Cougars        
        
		
        
        
            Damien barely beat Rancho Cucamonga the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Spartans' pitcher stepped up to hand the Cougars  an   8-0 shutout  on Monday. The  win was some much needed relief for the Spartans as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Not much got past  Rudy O'Dell, who gave up just  two  hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Rancho Cucamonga off the board. Those eight  strikeouts set a new season-high mark for  O'Dell.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Bobby Logue, who  fired off two  home runs, three  runs,  and three  RBI while going 3-for-3. Damien is undefeated when  Logue posts one or  more  home runs, but 10-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of  Michael Mansour, who  went 2-for-3 with two  runs, two  doubles,  and one  stolen base.
 Damien was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rancho Cucamonga only posted a  batting average of  .091.
The  victory  got Damien back to even at 13-13. As for Rancho Cucamonga, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 18-8 record  this season.
Damien will have a chance to go back-to-back against Rancho Cucamonga: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled  at 3:30  p.m.  on Tuesday.
