Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dresden). They blew past the Humboldt Vikings 70-26 on Friday. The win was nothing new for the Lions as they're now sitting on four straight.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Luke Di Pietro and Cooper Allman. Di Pietro rushed for 280 yards and four TDs on only 15 carries while Allman gained 168 total yards and five touchdowns. Di Pietro's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 143 rushing yards.
Dresden was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 474 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Dresden didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jacob Moore and Mika Lawrence. Lawrence also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 18.
Dresden's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Humboldt, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
Dresden didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 14-0 win against McEwen on the 3rd. As for Humboldt, they have also already played their next game, a 50-48 defeat against Greenfield on the 3rd.
