Watertown is 8-1 against Monona Grove since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Goslings are taking a road trip to challenge the Silver Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Watertown's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Monona Grove's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Watertown is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Oregon on Friday. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The matchup marked the Goslings' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Watertown saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Breanna Meracle, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Monona Grove's offense. They fell 5-0 to Waunakee on Friday. The Silver Eagles' loss continues a trend for the team, making it six in a row.

Brooklyn Vanden Branden spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits.

Monona Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Watertown, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-4 record this season.

Watertown came out on top in a nail-biter against Monona Grove in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Goslings since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
