Recap: Buckeye Central Bucks vs. Carey Blue Devils
The Buckeye Central Bucks lost against the Carey Blue Devils back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Buckeye Central took a 44-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Carey. While losing is never fun, Buckeye Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 474th, while Carey is ranked 122nd).
Carey's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kynlee Phillips, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Riley Yost was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds.
Buckeye Central's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Carey, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buckeye Central will challenge Colonel Crawford at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Colonel Crawford's defense has only allowed 29.6 points per game this season, so Buckeye Central's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Carey, they will head out on the road to face off against Elmwood at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Carey focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
