Football Game Preview: Red Lion Lions vs. South Western Mustangs

The Red Lion Lions will venture away from home to challenge the South Western Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Red Lion has given up an average of 31.8 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Red Lion duked it out with William Penn on Friday. The Lions had to suffer through a 52-20 loss at the hands of the Bearcats. The Lions have struggled against the Bearcats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Although Red Lion took the loss, they still got scores from Yensiel Roman Gonzalez, Octavius Thompson, and Julian Cedrone.

Meanwhile, South Western played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Central York, falling 56-17. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 147th, while the Panthers are ranked 16th).

Red Lion will need to focus on slowing down Jacob Graham, one of several South Western players who made an impact when they last played. He picked up 174 receiving yards and one TD. Graham's longest reception was for an incredible 79 yards. Seth Sullivan was another key player, throwing for 243 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 12.2 yards per attempt.

South Western now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Red Lion, they now also have a losing record of 2-3.

Red Lion came up short against South Western in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, falling 26-16. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
