Football Recap: Peachtree Ridge Takes a Loss

Peachtree Ridge lost against Brookwood back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The game between the Lions and the Broncos didn't end well, with the Lions falling 45-27. The Lions were down 35-7 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the loss, Peachtree Ridge still got an impressive performance from Rayshaun Parks, who threw for 391 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.7% of his passes, and also rushed for 85 yards. Parks' passing game has become a key predictor of the Lions' success: the team is 4-1 when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. 89 of Parks' passing yards were hauled in by Braxton Palmer, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Brayden Tyson was his usual excellent self, rushing for 210 yards and four scores while picking up 11.1 yards per carry for Brookwood. That's the most rushing yards Tyson has posted since back in November of 2024. Gary Chatman was another key player, throwing for 205 yards and one TD on only 15 passes.

This is the second loss in a row for Peachtree Ridge and nudges their season record down to 5-3. As for Brookwood, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Peachtree Ridge will square off against rival Parkview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 929 yards in their previous games. Meanwhile, Brookwood is set to challenge their familiar foe Duluth at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
