Softball Recap: Cross Plains Triumphs

Cross Plains took an 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Winters, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Buffaloes came out on top in a nail-biter against the Blizzards on Friday, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Buffaloes have posted since March 5th.

Kenzie McLean spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up 18 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cross Plains saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landry Barron, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Cross Plains' victory bumped their record up to 8-5-1. As for Winters, they dropped their record down to 7-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Coincidentally, Cross Plains and Winters will both be playing Ballinger the next time they take the field. The Blizzards will head out to face the Bearcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Buffaloes will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
