The Cornwall Central Dragons will challenge the Goshen Central Gladiators at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
Valley Central hit Cornwall Central with a eight-run fifth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Dragons took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. The Dragons have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Goshen Central's hitters rose to the challenge against a Bushmen pitching crew that boasted an average of only two runs allowed on Thursday. The Gladiators were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Pine Bush. Considering the Gladiators have won five matchups by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Addison Freiberger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Freiberger was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Goshen Central got a massive performance out of Bailey Gomulka, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and one stolen base. That's the most hits Gomulka has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Olivia Jordan, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Goshen Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Goshen Central's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Cornwall Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Cornwall Central suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Goshen Central in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Dragons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
