Preview: Cordova Lancers vs. Natomas Nighthawks
Cordova has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Natomas Nighthawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Cordova took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 49-7 victory over Florin.
Cordova's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elijah Wallace, who rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown on only five carries. Wallace was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Ryce, who threw for 168 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 passes.
Meanwhile, Natomas got the win against Valley on Friday by a conclusive 30-6. The result was nothing new for Natomas, who have now won three contests by 24 points or more so far this season.
Michael Hendricks continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 104 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, while also picking up 84 receiving yards and a touchdown. Jaylen Melvin was another key contributor, throwing for 175 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes.
Cordova is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 3-5 record this season. As for Natomas, their victory on Friday also bumped their record up to an identical 3-5.
Cordova took a serious blow against Natomas in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 42-0. Will Cordova have more luck at home instead of on the road?
