Softball Recap: Columbia Sets Scoring Season-High Against Emmett

Columbia had lost 18 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 0-15 to make it 19. They came up short against the Emmett Huskies, falling 18-8. On the bright side, the eight- run performance marked the Wildcats' highest-scoring game to date.

As for Emmett, they moved to 4-10 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

For Emmett's part, Oakley Scheibe made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Scheibe has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lydia Andrews, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cassidy Ford, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Columbia will face off against Skyview at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Emmett, they will take on Vallivue at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
