Basketball Game Preview: Meyersdale Red Raiders vs. Berlin Brothersvalley Mountaineers

Meyersdale hasn't had much luck against Berlin Brothersvalley recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Meyersdale Red Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Berlin Brothersvalley Mountaineers at 7:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Meyersdale is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Rockwood 64-40 on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Berlin Brothersvalley played a tough match on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 84-59 to Richland. The Mountaineers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-21.

Meyersdale will need focus on slowing down Carson Janidlo, one of several Berlin Brothersvalley players who made an impact when they last played. He almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Janidlo a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Richardson, who posted 13 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Berlin Brothersvalley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Berlin Brothersvalley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Meyersdale, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.

Meyersdale took a serious blow against Berlin Brothersvalley when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 70-37. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Meyersdale was down 47-24.
