Baseball Game Preview: Giles County Bobcats vs. Summertown Eagles

The Giles County Bobcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Summertown Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Giles County took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Franklin County by a score of 4-1.

Meanwhile, Summertown entered their tilt with Battle Creek on Tuesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Grizzlies a 4-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly four runs.

Summertown saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Quint Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one stolen base. Another was Aiden Perez, who scored two runs and stole two bases.

Summertown pushed their record up to 15-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Giles County, their record is now 9-14.

Giles County might still be hurting after the 14-1 defeat they got from Summertown in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Bobcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
