Softball Recap: East Union Comes Up Short

East Union extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 9-11 in the process. They came up short against the Central Catholic Raiders, falling 15-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lancers of the 14-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Savanna Lopez and Elli Flores did some serious damage despite the final result: Lopez went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Flores went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Flores' first of the season.

As for Central Catholic, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 17-4. Considering they have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

On Central Catholic's side, Stephanie Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, Ceriah Fitzhugh was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Jazmarie Roberts was another key player, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Central Catholic beat East Union by a score of 11-4 later that day.
