Basketball Recap: Rural Vista [Hope/White City] Comes Up Short

Rural Vista [Hope/White City] lost against Wakefield back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Rural Vista [Hope/White City] Heat fell 49-42 to the Wakefield Bombers.

Despite the loss, Rural Vista [Hope/White City] saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kaimey Evans went 7-for-17 to rack up 18 points along with seven boards and four steals. Evans has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Clara Noeth was another key player, putting up eight points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Rural Vista [Hope/White City] smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Wakefield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Paige Smith, who almost dropped a double-double with 29 points and nine boards. Smith is becoming a predictor of Wakefield's success: when she posts at least 15 points the team is 6-3 (and 0-7 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Grace Rohrer, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 rebounds.

Rural Vista [Hope/White City] has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Wakefield, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-10.

Rural Vista [Hope/White City] wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 56-46 victory against Ell-Saline on the 13th. As for Wakefield, they will face off against Solomon at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
