Baseball Game Preview: Bald Eagle Area Eagles vs. Somerset Eagles

Bald Eagle Area will head out on the road to face off against Somerset at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bald Eagle Area is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Bald Eagle Area and Central, and Central kept the tradition alive. The Eagles came up short against the Dragons on Tuesday, falling 10-3.

Bald Eagle Area saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaleb Irion, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Somerset made easy work of Penn Cambria on Tuesday and carried off a 15-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Callen Miller, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Lane Lambert also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Somerset kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.

Somerset's win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Bald Eagle Area, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.

Bald Eagle Area couldn't quite finish off Somerset when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can Bald Eagle Area avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
