Basketball Recap: University Titans vs. Seabreeze Sandcrabs

This season hasn't been kind to the University Titans, who are still winless after their 16th contest. They took a 50-36 bruising from Seabreeze on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to University of the 49-25 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Alexis Hall and Idalia Blair certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Hall scored 12 points along with eight rebounds, while Blair scored seven points. Another player making a difference was Sierra Reiter, who scored six points.

Sarahnoel Randolph continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Seabreeze, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds. Randolph is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. Amira Ferguson was another key contributor, scoring nine points.

University dropped their record down to 0-16 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.9 points per game. As for Seabreeze, their win ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. University will play host again and welcome the Eagles, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Trinity Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Tuesday. As for Seabreeze, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m.
