Baseball Game Preview: Salesian Eagles vs. Monsignor Scanlan Crusaders

The Salesian Eagles will face off against the Monsignor Scanlan Crusaders at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for Salesian and six for Monsignor Scanlan.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Salesian and Kennedy Catholic have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Eagles came up short against the Gaels, falling 21-2.

Salesian saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kristopher Paredez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, Monsignor Scanlan lost 7-1 to Cardinal Hayes on Monday.

Monsignor Scanlan's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Salesian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Salesian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Monsignor Scanlan struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Salesian took their victory against Monsignor Scanlan in their previous matchup back in March of 2016 by a conclusive 11-0 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Crusaders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
