Softball Game Preview: South Medford Panthers vs. Roseburg Indians

The South Medford Panthers are taking a road trip to face off against the Roseburg Indians at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. South Medford's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Roseburg's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

South Medford is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Oregon's top teams: North Medford, who was ranked 20th at the time (South Medford was ranked eighth). The Panthers fell 5-2 to the Black Tornado on Tuesday. The loss was the Panthers' first of the season.

South Medford saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Kaufman, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Roseburg also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Gresham by a score of 7-3. The loss was the Indians' first of the season.

Cambria Bachmeier made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Roseburg's loss dropped their record down to 8-1. As for South Medford, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. South Medford hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .355. However, it's not like Roseburg struggles in that department as they've averaged .321. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
