Preview: Skaneateles Lakers vs. Marcellus Mustangs
The Skaneateles Lakers will head out on the road to face off against the Marcellus Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Skaneateles will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 288th, while Marcellus is ranked seventh).
Last Tuesday, Skaneateles lost to Christian Brothers Academy on the road by a decisive 60-45 margin.
Meanwhile, Marcellus put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Cazenovia with points to spare, taking the game 55-36.
Will Burnett and Tucker Burnett were among the main playmakers for Marcellus as the former scored ten points along with eight steals and the latter scored 15 points along with six assists and six steals. Burnett continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Kershaw, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Skaneateles' loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Marcellus, their victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0.
Skaneateles suffered a grim 58-32 defeat to Marcellus in their previous meeting back in January. Thankfully for Skaneateles, Pat Louer (who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 18 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
