Volleyball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Orcutt Academy

Orcutt Academy was handed a three-set defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Morro Bay Pirates. That's more bragging rights for the Spartans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Orcutt Academy was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (109-108), but they still managed to win. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-23, 18-25, 25-21, 16-14.

Charlie Stewart paced Orcutt Academy's offense, picking up 23 kills. Stewart got some help from Miles Frantz and his 42 assists. Stewart was also solid from the service line: he led the team with three aces.

Orcutt Academy's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-3. As for Morro Bay, their loss dropped their record down to 12-14.
