Dutchtown is 9-1 against East Ascension since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Dutchtown Griffins will head out on the road to square off against the East Ascension Spartans at 5:00 p.m.

On Tuesday, Dutchtown came up short against Walker and fell 11-7.

Meanwhile, East Ascension narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Northshore 5-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Mckenzie Creel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mya Lanoux, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Madison Stevens, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Dutchtown now has a losing record of 6-7. As for East Ascension, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.

Dutchtown was able to grind out a solid victory over East Ascension when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 9-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dutchtown since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
