Football Game Preview: Godley Wildcats vs. Benbrook Bobcats

The Godley Wildcats will challenge the Benbrook Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Godley has given up an average of 41.3 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Godley faced off against Glen Rose on Friday. The Wildcats took a blow against the Tigers, falling 56-21.

Godley might have lost, but man, Adam Pempsell was a machine: he rushed for 190 yards and two scores while picking up 7.0 yards per carry. Pempsell was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 59 yards. Crosby Carmichael was another key player, picking up 120 receiving yards and one TD.

Meanwhile, Benbrook can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They secured a 28-22 W over Dunbar. That six point margin sets a new team best for the Bobcats this season.

Godley's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Benbrook, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Godley came up short against Benbrook when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 28-24. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Bobcats' Brennan Barton, who threw for 211 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 59 yards.
