Football Game Preview: Wabash Apaches vs. Lewis Cass Kings

The Wabash Apaches will square off against the Lewis Cass Kings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Wabash is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Northwestern on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Apaches were dealt a 48-13 loss at the hands of the Tigers. The Apaches were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-7.

Although Wabash took the loss, they still got scores from Treyce Daughtry and Davon Osborn.

Meanwhile, Lewis Cass came up short against Maconaquah on Friday and fell 21-13. The Kings haven't had much luck with the Braves recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Gavin Smith and Marcell Sims. Sims had a great game and gained 151 total yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, Smith did his best for the losing side, rushing for 115 yards and one score.

Lewis Cass' defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Wabash, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Wabash couldn't quite get it done against Lewis Cass when the teams last played back in October of 2015 as they fell 31-20. Thankfully for the Apaches, Isaac Shaffer (who rushed for 89 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries, and also caught one TD) won't be suiting up this time.
