Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Colin Wright and Dane Duryea Lead Anselmo-Merna to Victory

Anselmo-Merna had to endure a four-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They enjoyed a cozy 53-39 win over the Ainsworth Bulldogs on Friday. The Coyotes' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Leading Anselmo-Merna to victory were Dane Duryea and Colin Wright. Duryea went 8 for 16 on his way to 22 points and seven rebounds, while Wright almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave Wright a new career-high in blocks (three). Kayden Record was another key player, putting up eight points and nine rebounds.

Anselmo-Merna was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Anselmo-Merna's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Ainsworth, they dropped their record down to 0-3 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Anselmo-Merna will welcome Overton on Tuesday. As for Ainsworth, they will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against Valentine at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
