Texas Wind will head out to face off against the Stephenville FAITH Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Texas Wind has given up an average of 7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Texas Wind managed to slip by Texans Baseball Homeschool the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Texas Wind came up short against Texans Baseball Homeschool on Saturday, falling 24-2. Texas Wind has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Texas Wind saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brazos Kunkel, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stephenville FAITH). They were the clear victor by a 39-4 margin over Hill County on Friday. With that victory, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 8.3 runs per game.
Walker Feemster made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Stephenville FAITH is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-4 otherwise. Feemster was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs.
In other batting news, Stephenville FAITH got a massive performance out of Kyler McCarty, who scored three runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Matthew Gould was another key player, scoring four runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Stephenville FAITH always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .893. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Stephenville FAITH moved to 2-5 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak. As for Texas Wind, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Texas Wind took their victory against Stephenville FAITH when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 16-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Texas Wind since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
