Baseball Game Preview: Brother Martin Crusaders vs. St. Louis Catholic Saints

The Brother Martin Crusaders will face off against the St. Louis Catholic Saints at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Brother Martin: 2, St. Louis Catholic: 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Brother Martin is headed into the matchup having just suffered their closest loss since April 9, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Teurlings Catholic by a score of 5-3.

Brother Martin got a good showing from Drake Amedee, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits.

On the hitting side, Brother Martin saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cody Kropp, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Reece Roussel also deserves some recognition as he stolen his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, St. Louis Catholic was able to grind out a solid victory over Welsh on Monday, taking the game 9-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Saints.

Brother Martin's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for St. Louis Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Brother Martin took their victory against St. Louis Catholic in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 11-4. Does Brother Martin have another victory up their sleeve, or will St. Louis Catholic turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
