Baseball Recap: St. Anthony Has No Trouble Against Flora

St. Anthony was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Flora on Tuesday. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Wolves with a sharp 13-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won three games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Xander Beals made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Beals was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

In other batting news, Brock Fearday and Brady Hatton did most of the damage at the plate: Fearday went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Hatton went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. Those three runs gave Fearday a new career-high. Will Fearday was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

St. Anthony was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

St. Anthony's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Flora, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Anthony will take on Altamont at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 2, the Indians 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Flora, they will be playing at home against Centralia at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
