Football Game Preview: Downey Knights vs. Gregori Jaguars + How To Watch

Downey is 9-1 against Gregori since November of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. Downey knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Gregori likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Downey came up short against Edison and fell 48-40. Despite 109 more yards than the Vikings, the Knights couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Downey might have lost, but man, Elias Haynes was a machine: he rushed for 113 yards and four touchdowns, and also picked up 36 receiving yards. Haynes' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 101 rushing yards. Another player making a difference was Owen Sacuskie, who gained 140 total yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Gregori was not able to break out of their rough patch last Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were beaten by Los Banos 37-7.

Gregori's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Downey, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Downey took their victory against Gregori in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 61-35 score. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Jaguars' Emmanuel Vasquez, who threw for 280 yards and three TDs while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 48 yards and a pair of scores.
