Softball Game Preview: Princeton Tigers vs. Sherrard Tigers

Princeton will head out on the road to face off against Sherrard at 11:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Princeton's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three games.

Princeton gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Newman Central Catholic as they made off with a 15-5 victory. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Keely Lawson was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Makayla Hecht also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Princeton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Sherrard didn't have quite enough to beat Rockridge on Thursday and fell 6-5. The loss was the Tigers' first of the season.

Makensie Westfall made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI and one double. Nadia Anderson was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Having lost for the first time this season, Sherrard fell to 8-1. As for Princeton, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Princeton hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.3 home runs per game. However, it's not like Sherrard struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
