Basketball Recap: Southern School of Energy and Sustainability Comes Up Short on the Road Against South Garner + How To Watch

Southern School of Energy and Sustainability had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a blow against the South Garner Titans, falling 73-38. The Spartans lost against the Titans in their previous head to head back in November of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 60-53 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Southern School of Energy and Sustainability lost, don't look at Ashlyn Hudson. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten boards. Hudson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last 18 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Aliyah Herndon, who posted five points.

South Garner got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kimaya Barnes out in front who went 5-for-10 en route to 13 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Ballard, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards.

Southern School of Energy and Sustainability didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 57-46 win against Dudley on the 19th. As for South Garner, they will take on Wakefield at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
