The Pinnacle Pioneers will take on the Queen Creek Bulldogs at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Pinnacle is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Pinnacle's tournament run continued when they took on Willow Canyon on Saturday. Pinnacle and Willow Canyon finished up their matchup with a 3-3 draw. The game marked the Pioneers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Kodi Crabtree spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks.
Meanwhile, Queen Creek got the win against Corona del Sol on Saturday by a conclusive 14-2. That looming 14-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bulldogs yet this season.
Queen Creek also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Aubrey Chavez gave up just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up 15 Ks. What's more, Chavez gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Queen Creek let Tayla Falquez and Charli Dixon run wild. Falquez went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Dixon went 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Falquez also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Madison Peterson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Queen Creek lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.
With that tie, Pinnacle's record moves to 2-2-1. As for Queen Creek, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Queen Creek's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Pinnacle has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Queen Creek, though, as they've been averaging 9 hits. Given Pinnacle's sizable advantage in that area, Queen Creek will need to find a way to close that gap.
