Baseball Recap: Colfax Comes Up Short

Colfax had lost eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-11 to make it nine. They lost 12-4 to the Glenwood City Hilltoppers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hilltoppers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-6 back in April.

Drew Buchner made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

As for Glenwood City, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-10. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

On Glenwood City's side, the team relied heavily on Caleb Klinger, who earned two RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases. Klinger has become a key player for the Hilltoppers: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-9 otherwise. Corey Strong was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Coming up, Colfax will head out to take on Boyceville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Glenwood City, they will host Elmwood/Plum City at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
